Professional Development: St. Louis Principals Academy

St. Louis Principals' Academy

The St. Louis Principals' Academy is a year-long, nationally recognized, professional development opportunity for school administrators and leaders from the St. Louis region.  The major goal of the Principals' Academy is to develop instructional leaders. Academy fellows meet locally two days each month. As part of the Academy, members participate in the state’s Satellite Academy Program. Academy participants are selected on the basis of demonstrated leadership and diverse representation of the area.

Participants in the Academy:

  • Network with other principals.
  • Discuss current topics and issues confronting school leadership.
  • Improve leadership, instruction, and management skills.
  • Develop and practice team building skills.
  • Explore organizational change and school assessment issues.
  • Receive training in the art of coaching.

An Orientation Meeting will be held on May 25, 2010 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Cooperating School Districts.  The opening session of the St. Louis Principals' Academy will be held June 15-17 at the Lake of the Ozarks in a joint meeting with other leadership cohorts from across the state. Applications are now being accepted; the deadline for submission of applications to CSD is March 26, 2010.
