Convoy of Hope for Haiti Relief
St. Louis-area students provide overwhelming support for Kits 4 Kids Project
Thousands of children living in Haiti will soon receive a hygiene kit, thanks to a statewide effort by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), Convoy of Hope, and the 11 Regional Professional Development Centers across the state.
St. Louis-area students came through with overwhelming Haiti-relief support. More than 500 boxes were delivered by area public school districts to the St. Louis Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC) in Florissant.
The Kits 4 Kids contain toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, bar of soap, comb and a hand towel packed in a plastic zipper bag. In addition, students were encouraged to include written notes in the kits.
A total of four 18-wheel Convoy of Hope trucks were dispatched to collect the donated kits. Convoy of Hope, based in Springfield, Missouri has been in Haiti for three years, serving meals to as many as 11,000 children a day. They also feed the hungry and provides drinking water to people across the U.S. and around the world.
