Close to 800 Educators Attend 14th Annual Character Education Conference
New venue proves to be a success
The 14th Annual Character Education Conference, hosted by CHARACTERplus, a project of Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, Inc. (CSD) was recently held July 16-18 at its new location, the Millennium Hotel-St. Louis. The conference attracted close to 800 educators with 112 taking advantage of the six pre-conference workshops.
Barbara Levin, Missouri Character Education Project Associate and coordinator for the 2008 Character Education Conference is happy to report the conference was a huge success. “This event is a labor of love for the CHARACTERplus staff, so we are deeply gratified when it receives rave reviews like well organized, uplifting and motivating, and year after year this conference gets me energized and committed to another great year,” said Levin.
The Character Education Conference, held annually for K-12 educators, is frameworked within the No Child Left Behind legislation and parallels the National Staff Development Council’s Staff Development Standards.
The Cooperating School Districts, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Center for Character and Citizenship, Missouri State High School Activities Association, Vantage Credit Union, Elliott Data Systems, Inc., Xerox, QuickTrip, DDI Media, and Schiller’s Camera and Video sponsored the 14th Annual Character Education Conference.
