AP World History Summer Institute
The International Education Consortium (IEC), a program of the Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, Inc. (CSD), will conduct a five-day AP World History Summer Institute, July 28-August 1, 2008. The institute will be held at Cooperating School Districts, 1460 Craig Road.
The Institute is designed for teachers at middle and high school levels, especially those currently teaching AP World History and those preparing for or considering offering the course in the future. The workshop is also valuable for those teachers who teach world history outside the AP framework.
Local presenters include: Donna Rogers Beard, a nationally known world history teacher and an experienced reader of AP world history exams. Beard is a teacher in the Clayton School District; Max Okenfuss, an associate professor of history at Washington University, has collaborated with IEC on several world history programs; and John Carroll, an assistant professor of history at Saint Louis University. Carroll has successfully worked with teachers in previous projects and teaches world history and Asian Studies.
