METC 2007 Produces Record Turnout

More than 1,200 educators attended the Midwest Education Technology Conference, which concluded February 28 at the Sheraton Westport Lakeside Chalet.  Participants passed along some positive feedback including the quality of the speakers and content of the program.  METC Program Manager Nancy George reports the consensus from the three-day conference was highly favorable with some people saying it was the best conference overall they’ve attended in quite some time.

The following is an email from a Mount Vernon, Illinois educator.

“I just wanted to follow up and let you know that I did attend the conference on Wednesday...learned a tremendous amount and really enjoyed my brief time at the conference.  I have to congratulate you and the Cooperating School Districts on preparing and presenting an outstanding conference.  I have attended quite a few different conferences and yours definitely has to be listed among the top, especially regarding organization, content and quality.  Again, thanks for your help and again, congratulations on an outstanding conference.  I am hoping to be able to attend for at least the two main days next year.”

When asked what information conference participants will share with colleagues, responses included SMARTboard information; Power Googling and various software skills; using podcasts and blogs for professional development; great Web sites that suits their needs perfectly; different ways to incorporate technology on an on-going basis, without adding to their busy schedules; and how educators are using Web 2.0 tools such as blogs, I-pods, cell phones, wikis, etc.

The three-day event attracted educators from Maine, Tennessee and Oklahoma.
