Public Lecture to Address the Civil War in American Memory

Doors open at 7 p.m. on October 24

 

 

Professor Clement Price, director of the Rutgers Institute on Ethnicity and Culture and the Modern Experience at Rutgers University, will lead a lecture and conversation on Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ethical Society of St. Louis, 9001 Clayton Road, St. Louis, MO 63117. Dr. Price is a well-known scholar activist and public intellectual who brings scholars and the general public together to raise the level of historical understanding to create a climate of mutual understanding that addresses issues of common concern among blacks and whites. The October 24 lecture, "Race, Memory and America's Past: The Civil War in American Memory," will address the complicated relationship between history and historical memory as they apply to the Civil War.


Dr. Price's lecture and workshop for teachers is sponsored by Cooperating School Districts' International Education Consortium, the St. Louis Regional Professional Development Center and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
