Midwest Education Technology Conference (METC) 2009
St. Charles Convention Center, St. Charles, MO

Technology is a valuable and relevant tool in the classroom that helps engage students to question, think and achieve at a higher understanding. What tech tools do you use to reach and teach your students and make learning relevant?

METC 2009 is bringing together a diverse group of speakers to share their knowledge, experience, strategies and expertise using established and emerging technologies in the classroom. As educators we must prepare our students for new jobs that have not been created by giving them the skills to question, gather, evaluate and finally produce new solutions or products. Technology is a tool that excites and engages students to learn.

METC 2009 goals:

  • Offers a program that shares effective instructional technology programs and management strategies
  • Brings together all stakeholders in a school district to explore new and innovative uses of technology and to learn from each other.
  • Designs a program that fits into educators’ individual learning plans and aligns with high quality professional development.
  • Exposes educators to the latest in quality products and services.
Comments from METC 2008

What information will you share with your colleagues?

"I will be sharing Web 2.0 with my colleagues. Those of us that attended the conference realize that we need a lateral meeting, to share our ideas on technology with each other."

"The big ideas - stop integrating technology and start integrating literacy. Do we know how to do that? Are we teaching how to be discerning consumers of information and productive producers of authentic content?"

"I will share everything! I am very excited about what I learned and have called a department meeting to show them technology skills/techniques they should start using in class."

"The specific activities I will share are the little things...that is what makes a difference int he classroom."

"I am already starting on a presentation to use with our faculty at the upcoming faculty meeting."

What did you find most beneficial?

"I left with practical ideas that can be easily incorporated into my curriculum! I also loved the location!"

"Chance to network and to learn about most up-to-date technoloyg for classroom learning."

"Enjoyed the 'cutting edge' stuff people are doing with technology, definitely broadened my outlook. Also liked that there were so many practical applications using things that we already have or can get for no cost."

"The diversity of content available was most beneficial to me, so that I could get a taste of many different areas."

"I felt the different strands that targeted the needs of the conference attendee were most beneficial."
