CSDVLC ISTE Affiliate

As an Affiliate of ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education), the Cooperating School Districts’ Virtual Learning Community (CSDVLC) is dedicated to assisting the education community through support, promotion, and leadership in the effective use of educational technology. Discovery Education streaming

CSD is proud to partner with Discovery Education by offering Missouri schools discounted pricing on several Discovery Education products, including DE streaming, DE Assessment and DE Science. These products provide on-demand videos and digital content for your classroom, such as virtual labs, eBooks, lesson plans, quizzes and images. By using Discovery Education products, students are engaged in their learning experience by receiving safe, high-quality, standards-based digital content that enhances learning and teaching. Distance Learning (DL) Academy

As an extension of the New Links Distance Learning program, the Distance Learning Academy consists of a blended learning experience of online projects and videoconferencing with other classes. Uses of distance learning through point-to-point videoconferencing (VC), Skype, and multi-point connections using H.323 systems are examined. Other online, collaborative resources such as Google docs, blogs & wikis are utilized throughout this multi-session academy. Participants have the option to earn three hours of graduate credit. District’s-Choice (Online Learning)

District’s-Choice for Online Learning is CSD’s newest addition to our programs and services. It provides individual schools or districts with the opportunity to develop an online course catalog customized to their instructional needs. Districts benefit from the best programs at the lowest prices in the State of Missouri. District’s-Choice courses are aligned to the Missouri curriculum standards and are taught by Missouri certified teachers. Contact Nancy George at ngeorge@csd.org for more information.

Integrating Technology Education Academy (ITEA)

The ITEA provides customized technology professional development to a specific group of educators for an extended length of time. It is flexible and goal-oriented so that schools can decide exactly what will support them in achieving their goals. ITEA provides a blended learning approach to long-term, instructional technology professional development. The PD is provided face-to-face, as well as through online collaborative tools. Library Media Specialist (LMS) Academy

The LMS Academy focuses on the changing role of the Library Media Specialist in K-12 education today. Certified instructors assist LMS personnel in teaching and connecting the new standards of AASL, ISTE and the NETS. Participants develop lessons, learn digital tools that promote effective use of digital media for students, examine best practices for copyright & Fair Use, and explore digital citizenship and literacy curriculum resources. Midwest Education Technology Conference (METC)

For nearly 30 years, CSD has provided this high-quality technology conference for K-12 educators interested in integrating technology into the classroom. Inspiring keynote speakers, as well as top-notch presenters, are hallmarks of the METC. This annual conference is held in St. Louis and provides a unique opportunity for educators to learn about the newest hardware, software, teaching strategies and philosophies, and most importantly, how to integrate technology into the classroom for improved student performance. New Links (Distance Learning)

New Links is a subscription-based distance-learning program that uses interactive videoconferencing technology to create live, educational opportunities. New Links connects experts and resources to classrooms and extends learning opportunities into the community. These highly engaging opportunities allow students to connect and visit with people and places across the world. It offers H.323 videoconferences, online test prep for SAT, PSAT & ACT through The Princeton Review, Skype connections and webinars. Show-Me A Movie

Show-Me a Movie is a digital storytelling contest for Missouri students in grades 2-12. Students are encouraged to demonstrate their creativity and digital movie making skills in five different categories. Based on curriculum and with a content focus, the two-minute, student created videos show what students know, care about, and are able to do. Cash prizes are awarded to the different divisions of each category and showcased at the annual Midwest Education Technology Conference. Support Staff Academy (SSA)

The Support Staff Academy is designed to provide professional development for educational support professionals (i.e., administrative assistants, secretaries/office personnel, maintenance/custodial, food service, security, teachers’ and library aides). It culminates each year at a mini-conference, offering attendees an opportunity to attend breakout sessions on topics specifically designed for Support Staff in education. Technology Enhanced Learning Environment (tele)

The tele is CSD’s computer lab that offers a state-of-the-art learning environment for classes in technology integration. The tele offers scheduled classes and workshops on all types of topics from Interactive Whiteboards to Digital Literacy to Google for Educators. Day and evening classes are available at various times throughout the year. Graduate credit can also be obtained for completion of the class requirements. CSD’s instructional technology specialists can also develop a customized tele class at your location. Technology Leadership Academy (TLA)

This long-term academy assists educational leaders in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to use technology as a tool for more effective and efficient leadership in schools. The TLA is based on the 21st Century Skills and the National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators (NETS-A). Participants use mobile devices and learn how to improve the classroom use of technology, develop a vision to use technology to improve student performance, assess the technology needs of their staff, and develop a practical technology plan. CSD’s Virtual Learning Center is happy to provide this NEW opportunity for distance learning. Join us for an exciting and informative line up of FREE Webinar Wednesday’s during the 2011-2012 school year. The live webinars will be hosted from 4-5pm on specific Wednesdays.
