Contest Timeline & Submission Guidelines
[COMPLETE 2013 RULES WILL BE POSTED BY JUNE 2013]

Teachers are encouraged to help students fill out these forms and may want to proofread them before final submittal. This is especially true of the reflection sheet. Please help students figure out which of the Common Core State Standards their movies fall under.

Evaluations
Note, movies that do not cite sources such as music, images, books, etc. will not be considered for judging. The judges will rate each Show-Me a Movie entry by:

• Quality of Content: Original work that achieves its stated purpose and appeals to its intended audience with good evidence of subject knowledge.
• Creativity: Well-developed, aesthetically pleasing and adds a different angle to its content.
• Videography (Live Action or Animation): Quality of images and sound, editing, etc.
• Reflection: Students demonstrate how their movies have achieved Common Core State Standards and what they have learned as a result of their project.

Prizes and Judging
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning schools in the different divisions of each category. Judges may choose a movie or movies for special recognition. Judges reserve the right to switch movies into categories they deem appropriate if they feel the movies do not belong in the categories they were originally entered in.

F.A.Q.s
Can students from any part of Missouri and Illinois enter?  Yes.

Can a teacher sponsor or advise more than one group?  Yes.

If students want to enter, but find none of their teachers willing to sponsor them, can they have another adult sponsor them?
No. Only school staff may act as sponsors.

Can a student have the same movie entered in another contest? (dual entry into multiple contests) Yes.

Will the prizes go to the students in the group or to the school?
Prizes are awarded to the school.

Will movies be rejected if they are received after 3 p.m. on the deadline date?
Yes. Schools should allow ample time for movies to arrive on time. URLs should be tested before submitting to CSD.

Does the 2 minute limit on the move length include titles and credits?
No. The content of the movie should not be more than 2 minutes in length. Longer movies will be disqualified.

Can a group of students submit one reflection sheet?
No. Each student in the group must submit his/her own reflection sheet. Their individual scores will be averaged in order to score the movie. Maximum length for the reflection is 200 words for all three questions.

To what extent may copyrighted material be allowed in producing a movie?
Generally, for educational use, 25% of copyrighted material, including music and sounds, can be used, according to the Fair Use Law. Trademarks should not be used unless permission is granted.
