This is a "Build-Your-Own" academy that provides a blended learning approach to long-term, customized professional development for a school or district. Support is provided in face-to-face, hands-on experiences for educators who are creating lessons and unit plans using 21st century teaching tools, as well as through online collaborative tools. Each ITEA is uniquely customized after the CSD Learning Team meets with leaders from a school or district. The specific outcomes are developed to meet the needs and goals of the participants.
ITEA offers:
a minimum of 40 hours of customized professional development
instructional coaching
enhanced technology and teaching skills
support of Common Core State Standards & Next Generation Assessments
support and strategies for integration of technology into the curriculum
strategies to promote higher order thinking skills for students
goal driven, data driven professional development
support for transforming classrooms into learning communities
high quality support for personalized learning

Interactive whiteboards in the classroom ~ SMART, Promethean
Google Apps for Educators ~ Google Drive/Docs, Gmail, Google Earth & more
Digital portfolios ~ online student work, problem-based learning (PBL)
Grading digitally ~ including Next Generation Assessments
Mobile devices ~ iPads, iPods, Android Tablets and more
Text Literacy, Visual Literacy and Media Literacy
Digital Citizenship ~ Character Education, cyber safety, cyberbullying & more
Creating technology rich lessons with Common Core State Standards
Social networking ~ Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and more
Personal Learning Networks (PLN) or Professional Learning Communities (PLC)
Software specific skills (MS Office, etc.)

The ITEA provides professional development to specific groups of educators for an extended period of time. It is flexible and goal-oriented, so that schools can decide exactly what will support them in achieving their own objectives. Graduate credit is available through Lindenwood University for an additional fee.
